Outside the market, construction is in full swing! Lawe Street is now closed in front of the store, but you can reach us easily by taking Meade Street to Pacific Street. We appreciate your patience while the city works on what promises to be a beautiful new Lawe Street.

And now, the delicious part...

I'm actually really good at spelling bees.

A friend lent me an audio book, but I lost it.

Now I'll never hear the end of it!

Weekly Specials Good July 15 to July 18

Happy Wednesday, Everyone!

We hope you're staying cool! The past few days have certainly reminded us that summer knows how to turn up the heat. While the forecast says we'll still have some warm days ahead, it looks like we'll at least get a little relief from the extreme temperatures we've been experiencing.

Whether you're planning a quick weeknight dinner or getting ready for another summer weekend, we've got plenty of delicious ideas waiting for you. This week's specials include Fresh All Natural Pork Tenderloins, USDA Choice Sirloin Tip Roasts, Fresh Jumbo Chicken Wings, Fresh Faroe Island Atlantic Salmon, and more. Be sure to check out this week's Brats of the Week, too. They're always a customer favorite!

A quick note if you're heading our way: although Lawe Street in front of the market remains open, the city has placed barricades near the intersection of Lawe Street and Pacific Street, so we expect they'll soon make good on their plan to close Lawe Street for construction. If you're visiting us from either College Avenue or Wisconsin Avenue, simply take Meade Street to Pacific Street and head west to the market. Easy peasy!

As always, thank you for shopping local and supporting Jacobs Meat Market. We truly appreciate every visit, every conversation, and every opportunity to serve our wonderful customers.

They're too Messi.

I just watched a documentary about the construction of the Titanic.

It was riveting.

Weekly Specials Good June 24 to June 27

Happy Wednesday, Everyone!

Summer officially arrived this past weekend, and with it comes one of the season's greatest traditions: making plans.

Camping trips. Family gatherings. Cookouts. Road trips. Projects around the house that seemed like a great idea back in February.

Of course, summer plans have a way of evolving. A quick trip to the hardware store somehow becomes an all-day adventure. A simple backyard cookout turns into a gathering of neighbors. A weekend project expands to fill the entire weekend.

Fortunately, good food tends to fit into just about every version of the plan.

Whether you're firing up the grill, stocking the camper, feeding visiting family, or simply looking for an easy supper after a busy day, we've got plenty of options waiting in the case.

And if your summer plans involve doing absolutely nothing at all, we can support that decision, too. A comfortable chair, a cold beverage, and something delicious on the grill sounds like a perfectly reasonable way to spend a weekend.

Whatever's on your calendar, we hope it includes good food, good company, and a little time to enjoy the season.

I went to an open-air cafe this past weekend and it rained.

It took me four hours to eat my soup.

Weekly Specials Good June 17 to June 20

Happy Wednesday, Everyone!

Father's Day arrives this weekend, which means many dads across America are about to participate in one of life's oldest traditions: insisting they don't need anything.

Not because they actually want nothing, of course. It's just that after a certain age, most dads become remarkably difficult to shop for. The things they want are usually too specific, too expensive, or already sitting in the garage waiting for a project that may or may not happen someday.

The challenge, then, becomes finding something that fits into that narrow category of gifts dads claim they don't want but are secretly delighted to receive.

Food has always been a safe choice.

A good steak. A package of brats. A favorite snack. Something for the grill. These gifts have a much higher success rate than neckties, coffee mugs, or anything described as "decorative."

Of course, some dads are easier to read than others. At last count, at least 47 dads are hoping for a smoker this year. If that happens to be your situation, we have Fresh Pork Butts on special that would make an excellent companion gift.

Whether you're celebrating your father, your grandfather, or simply spending time with family this weekend, we hope the occasion includes good food, good company, and a few stories worth telling.

I took my daughter to an orchard for her birthday.

We stood there for ten minutes.

It was not the apple watch she wanted.

Weekly Specials Good June 10 to June 13

Happy Wednesday, Everyone!

Every week seems to begin with the same optimistic thought: "This weekend should be pretty relaxed."

And every week, that thought is quickly introduced to reality.

Somehow, a weekend that begins with no plans at all develops a schedule worthy of an air traffic controller. A quick stop at the store becomes three errands. A simple project turns into a full afternoon. Before long, Sunday evening arrives and we're all wondering where those two days went.

Summer seems especially good at this. The longer days create the illusion that there will be plenty of time to get everything done. Yet somehow the calendar fills itself anyway.

Of course, there is something nice about a busy summer weekend. Farmers markets are open, grills are working overtime, and people seem to find more reasons to gather with friends and family. Even when the schedule gets a little crowded, most of it tends to be the good kind of busy.

Speaking of busy, a quick reminder that Lawe Street remains closed between College Avenue and North Street. If you're coming from College Ave, the easiest route to Jacobs Meat Market is to take Meade Street to Pacific and turn left. An extra turn, perhaps, but completely worth the effort.

Whether your upcoming weekend ends up quiet and relaxing or unexpectedly packed from start to finish, we hope you find time for good food, good company, and maybe even a chance to slow down for a little while.

I got an email talking about how to read maps backwards.

It was spam.

Weekly Specials Good June 3 to June 6

Happy Wednesday, Everyone!

June has arrived, and with it comes the annual reminder that not everyone agrees on what constitutes "perfect weather." For some, these warmer days are a long-awaited reward for surviving another Wisconsin winter. For others, anything above sixty-three degrees is simply nature showing off.

Either way, the season is settling in. The days are stretching a little longer, gardens are beginning to fill out, and evening walks suddenly seem like a much better idea than they did a few months ago. The sound of lawn mowers has become a regular part of the neighborhood soundtrack, and grills everywhere are starting to see considerably more action.

This time of year has a way of nudging people outdoors. Patios become dining rooms, parks become gathering places, and simple meals somehow feel a little more enjoyable when they're shared under an open sky.

For the two of you out there that are still being cautious: Yes, you may safely put your winter jacket in storage without fear that doing so will conjure a blizzard.

Whatever the week brings, we hope you find a reason to enjoy the season, spend a little time outside, and share a good meal with family and friends.

I bought a new staircase yesterday.

It was a step in the right direction but has its ups and downs.

I'll keep my eye on it. It might be up to something.

Am I spiraling here? I'll tread carefully.

Weekly Specials Good May 27 to May 30

Happy Wednesday, Everyone!

Well, Memorial Day has come and gone, which means summer is now unofficially official. The forecast seems fully committed to the idea, too, with temperatures suddenly remembering that Wisconsin is capable of warmth after all. Some seasonal traditions have already returned as well, including open windows, lawn mowers, and the annual decision to trust white clothing around condiments.

At the shop, the rhythm has shifted a little this week. You can feel it. Baseball diamonds are getting busier, supper plans are drifting outdoors, and grills across Wisconsin are ready for a very demanding few months.

The cooler weather foods haven’t disappeared entirely, but they are definitely beginning to step aside for brats, burgers, steaks, and the kinds of quick summer meals that somehow taste better when eaten outside.

Somewhere in Appleton right now, someone is confidently uncovering their patio furniture and discovering exactly why they meant to buy new cushions last summer.

Whatever your week has in store, we hope you find a little time to enjoy the warmer weather, slow things down when possible, and eat something excellent along the way.

I spent my entire life savings on pasta.

It was worth every penne.

Weekly Specials Good May 20 to May 23

Happy Wednesday, Everyone!

Memorial Day weekend is almost here, and that usually means lawn chairs reappearing from garages, grills getting their first serious workout of the season, and someone confidently insisting they can cook for twenty people with only one pair of tongs.

It’s also a time to pause and remember that the holiday exists for a reason far greater than cookouts and long weekends. We’re grateful for the sacrifices made by those who served our country and for the freedoms and everyday comforts those sacrifices helped protect.

Here at the shop, the week has already started to pick up steam as people plan gatherings, family meals, backyard celebrations, and all the little moments that somehow become the memories everyone talks about later.

The cases are looking especially full this week, with plenty of grilling favorites, easy supper ideas, and a few things that may quietly disappear faster than expected once the weekend officially begins.

Somewhere in Wisconsin right now, someone has already declared, “I’ll just grill something simple,” approximately fifteen minutes before purchasing enough food to feed a youth baseball tournament.

Whatever the upcoming holiday weekend looks like for you, we hope it includes good company, a little time to slow down, and something delicious finding its way to the table.

Did you hear about the two silk worms who were in a race?

They ended up in a tie.
